I feel like I'm bashing my head against a brick wall with this stoopid Windows 7 deployment. I think if I could see someone elses implementation, it might help me see where I've messed things up.
Firstly, is there anyone in the north west that uses SCCM to deploy Windows 7?
Secondly, can I come and see it in action? (there may be some EduGeek goodies in it for you)

Hey Ric,
I'm going along the MDT2010 route and I too am going bald with frustration. This damn profile business is winding be up a treat.
I have my reference machine running Enterprise. I have everything setup how I want it. Have done this a few times but cannot get it to capture the profile :-(
Not much help to you but...
Grrrr

I think this is why I didn't bother with MDT or SCCM! It was no problem to deploy with just WDS.
I'm using it to deploy XP + 7, i'm down south tho, but feel free to PM me Ric and I might be able to point you in the right direction.
We are getting a guy from DMSystems to come in and set MDT/WDS all up for us.
This guy has Microsoft guys calling him up for advice on it! I think he is pretty good and he is gunna set it up in two days.
Well, im not really allowed to say sorry! But it is a very manageable fee for what you get.
If you call them ask for Gavin (sales) and say Michael sent you - he should be able to help you.
I think the number is: 01322 518329.
Hope that helps

whats up with MDT2010? I had a prob with the sysprep and capture tasks but I have it sorted now and might be able to help?
We use SCCM for 7 (100% 7 this year) with the MDT2010 backbone (so many extra options). It works fine for capturing WIM images, I have more dramas getting certain packages to silently install.
Without knowing your setup I can only suggest some of the following tips:
- place restarts as part of the build/capture at logical points (eg. after Office)
- check if there is a way the drivers could be hiccuping the system (eg. some AV clients break the network connection on install which stops the process)
- bring up the console on error and check the log file
Sadly you have problems at the worst part as it takes so long to test each fix.
Near the Midlands? We are 90% windows 7.
