Does anyone here store their WDS images on a seperate NAS box which is then mapped to the WDS server?

My school will not let me purchase a new hard drive to upgrade the WDS server with more space, but I do have 1Tb NAS box lying around - mostly empty. Cannot remember why I purchased it. I seem to remember we were going to use it for Ghost images but in the end didn't go with Ghost.

Now I know we can get the WDS server to look elsewhere for the images, but I wondered if anyone had done this and noticed any major speed decrease or had encountered any problems.
