    windows.old

When imaging a machine with our new shiny image (which finally works) - the Windows directory that was being used is renamed as windows.old - as happens when you install Windows over the top.

Naturally I don't want this to happen so can anyone tell me what to do? Is this where I need the unattended xml file to be implemented? I wasn't aware you could do that with XP so perhaps someone could clarify.

At the moment we sysprep our XP image and then roll it out with WDS2008

    Many thanks

    Gareth

Are you formatting the partition before you apply the image?
If I remember correctly applying the image to a machine with the OS installed, without formatting, results in the windows.old file.
