I've created a hardware independent image which works flawlessly on all our desktops & laptops, except for HP d530 and HP dx6100. On both these computers the imaging process seems to complete successfully (reaches 100%), then on the next reboot nothing happens.
You are left hanging on a black screen with a white flashing cursor in the top left corner. When I was creating this image I had to troubleshoot countless errors relating to the HAL & drivers but all of those computers with problems reached sysprep, these ones don't even seem to get that far.
Is this a problem with FOG? Or something else I'm missing..?
Any help with this would be gratefully received!
Also may be worth mentioning, I've managed to get this image to work on the following desktops:
HP dc7100
HP dc7600
HP dc7700
HP dc7800
HP dc7900
HP dx2000

28th July 2009, 01:00 PM #3 Thanks for the Geoff, I believe the setting you were referring to was named slightly differently on these computers, but it has definately done the trick!!
In case anyone else has the same problem this is how I resolved it:
on d530:
BIOS -> Storage -> Device Config -> HDD -> Translation Mode -> LBA Assisted
on dx6100:
BIOS -> Storage -> Device Config -> HDD -> Translation Mode -> LBA Assisted
BIOS -> Advanced -> Power-on Options -> I/O APIC Mode -> Enable
After making those changes the computers booted into Windows first time!
