16th July 2009, 01:32 PM #1 FOG & Lenovo 3000 N100, HELP
We have FOG installed and working fine. all the machines we hav tested so far have worked, some with a few tweaks.
I am now trying to Upload an Image from a Lenovo 3000 N100, apart from I keep on getting TFTP open timeout errors.
I have tried a few different kernels and some kernel arguments with no change, and have updated the BIOS to the latest from Lenovo's site.
TFTP is working fine on FOG as we are taking images from other machines whilst this is happening.
The laptop recieves an IP from DHCP and then Timeout's on TFTP.
Please help
Teky

20th July 2009, 11:10 AM #2 Update:
after following and trying out several of the fixes people have posted on other threads, with no result, i tried emulating gpxe from USB as the N100's are USB bootable. this worked and enabled me to boot the laptop from the network and upload an image.
We have three types of Lenovo laptops here, C200, N100 and N200. The C200 and the N100 are using Realtek boot agents and timed out on TFTP; the N200 uses the broadcom boot agent and boots from normal network pxe fine.
i had to download a gpxe image from the following site (downloaded .usb file):
ROM-o-matic.net: for gPXE version 0.9.6
and then followed the guidelines on the following site to push the .usb file onto a usb stick:
removable - Etherboot/gPXE Wiki
Although booting to network from usb is not ideal in batch imaging i believe this is a good workaround until a better fix is found.
TEKY.

a) updating the bios

20th July 2009, 12:15 PM #4 Hi Geoff,
Yes i had tried them both.
I'll list here what i had tried.
- Bios update
- pxelinux.0 update (to 3.82)
- PXE menu from graphic to text
- various kernels and kernel arguments
- gPXE from network
- a few other things that i can't remember right now
The TFTP time outs still occured when we upgraded the fog from 0.26 to 0.27
