Clonezilla saves in GZip format I believe, so you may be able to use 7zip or similar to get into the actual files. I've not tried and I'm not at work right now so I can't say for sure but it's worth a try.

According to Clonezilla FAQ you can mount and read an NTFS drive, although I really didn't understand the instructions...

Acronis can do this. You'll need to pay for it (quite cheap), but then you can make an emergency bootable CD, which can then be used to boot the machine, backup, restore, wipe(secure erase) or clone the drive (can do a disk to disk copy in a few minutes). Great because it can backup/restore to USB, local drive, or even network attached drive.

The image files can be mounted on a PC with Acronis installed.

Not free, but the boot CD is VERY useful.
