    Reset Sysprep count?

    Hi All,
We have some new PCs and as a result I need to tweak our master image. However I think it may have been sysprepped 3 times so I'm concerned that we cannot use our lovely image as it is. Does anyone know how I can get round the maximum three syspreps?

    Thanks

SysPrep can be run an unlimited number of times with Windows 8.x.

With Windows 7, you would simply restore your VM to the snapshot you took before you sysprep'd the image.

    Elevated command line:

    C:\windows\system32\sysprep>slmgr -rearm

-> get an error about maximum number of rearms exceed. Slmgr /dlv confirms it.

    2.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cu rrentVersion\SoftwhereProtectionPlatform\

    SkipRearm from 0 to 1

    3.
Elevated command line: Run C:\windows\system32\sysprep>slmgr -rearm again and get a success message telling me to restart to apply changes.

    5.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\SysprepStat us
CleanupState to 2 and GeneralizationState to 7

    6. Run> msdtc -uninstall

    6. Run> msdtc -install

    8. Restart computer then confirm the Registry values stayed the same

    9. Elevated command line: C:\windows\system32\sysprep> sysprep.exe and then run it with /oobe /generalize and shutdown

Taken from my personal notes, =D
