    English, do you speak it? Answer file help needed!

    Hi All,

    Trying to use WSIM to create an unattended install.

    Does anyone have the exact properties I need to insert for English UK?

    x86_Microsoft-Windows-International-Core-WinPE__neutral

    INPUT LOCALE
    SYSTEM LOCALE

    SETUP UI properties

    UI LANGUAGE

    Do I need to put these anywhere else?

    Also another question, my MAK Serial Key says it's invalid, where should I put this in the answer file?

    Thanks,

    Kol.

    Ive not put any details in the unattend file. I put all my locale settings in the custom settings.ini file in the Deployment share. Seems to work.

    SkipLocalSelection=YES
    KeyboardLocale=0809:00000809
    UserLocale=en-GB
    UILanguage=en-GB

    This is from my MDT customsettings.ini but I would imagine the values are the same

    Code:
    SkipLocaleSelection=YES
    KeyboardLocale=0809:00000809
    UserLocale=en-GB
    UILanguage=en-GB
    SkipTimeZone=YES
    TimeZoneName=GMT Standard Time

    OK, it seems that the settings were taking place after the actual install...

    Once it enters OOBE, English-UK is already selected.

    But it's the initial install dialogue where it falters, after reading the answer file it stops and pops up a GUI asking for input languages and keyboard layout. I'm sure I put EN-GB in the PE part of the answer file though.

    There is a section where it says shows GUI 'on error' maybe if I untick that? It didn't say there were any actual errors on the answer file validation...

    I never touched the PE section of the answer file at all. Mine still says en-US but doesn't cause any problems.

    Ok I'll test some more, it's not a problem in itself as it does go to UK after the OOBE.

    It's just that it comes up with a choice screen requiring me to click it and I was under the impression I was creating an unattended setup answer file!

    This...

    Thank you!

    This also (almost) matches up with something I just Goooogled! Not location, but UI - it set me off in the right direction anyhow!

    On watch point though -don't change the UILanguage from en-US. In my testing, Windows setup doesn't appear to like this setting being changed, and results in all your locale and language settings being ignored.

    Interesting read for the uninitiated...

    Yeah don't do that. MS couldn't be bothered with en-gb for the winpe environment. When MDT went to version 2012 it no longer uses windows setup as its slower than dism applying the image.
