    Deploy ActivInspire?

I'm attempting to deploy ActivInspire 1.3 via SCCM and somehow failing miserably.

All its componenets have installed fine (the driver, help, HWR resources and core resources) but the main installer refuses to install.

If I stick the installer on the machine and run the command msiexec /i "ActivInspire.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="ActivInspire.mst" /L "c:\activInspire.log" it runs fine.

However, it fails every time from SCCM. I get an error in the MSI log stating either "The path ActivInspire Resources contains an invalid character" or "The path ActivInspire Shared Resources contains an invalid character".

I know the MST works, as doing it manually is fine. So, how do I get this working?

Have you tried running it as the system account? One of the sysinternals tools allows a cmd prompt as system.

How would I do that in SCCM? As far as I'm aware, they all run as administrator (or an administrator, to be more precise) when you specify 'system' as the install type.

It deploys ok for us using SCCM, but we don't use a MST file. Can you install it without the MST of is it crucial to your setup?

Just do it on local computer. See if the error is the same then you can see if its a deployment setting.

Sccm retrives packages using the network access account and installs as the system account.

    Hmm... works without the MST.

Any reason I actually need the MST that the ASTransGen creates?

If it works without the transform I guess you should kick it up to promethean support?

The generator isn't used for the serial - the 'network install' wizard does that bit. The MST just specifies the things like shared resources location and the like.

Could it be the paths the mst has if they are network paths the system account does not have access. Or there are spaces in the paths.

Thing is, they have to be network paths. I tried with UNC paths and with the mapped drive path that staff would have. Both failed.
