Create a text file on the C drive when installing?

    Hi,

I would like MDT to create a text file on the c drive before joining the domain. This is used to tell when the installation has started and finished and is used by Group policy preferences.

I have tried running the command

    Code:
    echo.>C:\Installing.txt
This is set as a 'run command line' task in the task sequence before the 'recover from domain' task.

All i get however is a error with Notepad as the title and the error
The filename,Directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Could just be that you are missing the spaces.

    Try
    Code:
    echo. > C:\installing.txt
When I ran your code in CMD I get nothing, when I put the spaces in it's fine.

    Hi,

Just found a guide on the net.
    http://www.theurbanpenguin.com/pdf/MDT-OEM.pdf

You just add the file into the OEM folder and it copies it over.

Will give it a go tomorrow.

If you are using MDT 2012 Update 1, you may want to read the following because it no longer copies the contents of the $OEM$ folder...
