What operating system do you have on the computer you are using to create the Ubuntu disk?
I don't care what operating system it is...I just want this damned machine to work, i've been fighting with it for over a month now and im stressed beyond belief lol
And the procedure you are using to create the disk?
Rob

Right. Follow these steps:
- On your Windows 7 computer ensure all programs are closed
- Place a blank CD in your Windows 7 computers drive
- Locate the Ubuntu ISO file on the Windows 7 computer
- Double click this file. This will then start the Windows Disk Image Burner application
- Click 'Burn'
- Once finished (the disc will eject itself automatically) try and boot your new computer from it

for the usb, just copy the ISO file to it.
for the disc, just go into my computer, the cd drive, copy the ISO file to the location then click "burn to disc"
That's won't work,
Follow DOS_Box's instructions.
Rob
ok thanks, i'll try that

NO!
You do not copy the ISO image to the disk. The ISO file is a 'disk' image i.e. a complete replica of a CD/DVD in a file format. This needs to be burnt in a very different manner to that of a data disc, which is what you have been trying to do so far. Follow the instructions I have posted above and you will be fine.
