Debian server through proxy
I am *trying* to set up a Debian server to act as a dedicated Xibo server (don't ask - I just wanted to find an excuse to fiddle with a Debian server in work). I am having real issues with getting it to access the outside world through our proxy server. After doing extensive searches on the net, most only deal with setting up a Debian server as a proxy server, not setting it up so it can go through one.
I have tried export HTTP_PROXY="http://xx.xx.xxx.xx:8000", and I've also tried putting it directly in the wgetrc file (as suggested by a website) but pings still return 'Packet Filtered', ,and wget commands fail miserably.
Any help would be much appreciated.
After inputting the command route -n, I have noticed the destination and gateway addresses are wrong. Would this affect the above, and how do I rectify this?
Thanks in advance
