LIfe was simple I just had a laser jet 4k and that was that. Who needs colour anyway.
Then it happened. I had to attach an MFP to an Ubuntu box. In the end I had to do a err... tatical retreat.
Do you use a colour injket with your *nix box?

Got an HP F380 here, works OK some of the time. But the box it is on needs upgrading so hopefully will be a bit better when I get round to it :)
My CUPs box doesn´t seem to mind MFP printers - obviously it just does the printing bit though ;)
Make sure you get the relevant Foomatic drivers first but then ït just works":D
We have two HP Business Inkjet 2300 which works perfectly. We've used to have an HP 2000C which worked perfectly and I think was a better printer. At home I use an Epson Stylus Colour C86 which also works perfectly but the the printer is a piece of junk.
The only gotcha that I know of with colour printing is that under some versions of Redhat the ps file that the CUPS uses for it's test print has an error in the postscript code. When it prints, it can lead you to believe that your printer isn't working properly when in reality it probably is.
Make sure you check the OpenPrinting.org (used to be Linuxprinting.org) website for compatibility.

Also as it's a HP (I think?) you can use the HP Linux drivers if you want.
