Welcome aboard!
The Linux Documentation Project is always a good place to start when looking for info. Seek "The Linux System Administrators' Guide" on this site. RUTE is also a good reference.
Subscribe to the appropriate Google Group for your distro (assuming your LEA allows access to Google Groups).
Buy a handful of O'Reilly Books and be sure to check their Open Books page.
Finally ask specific questions and answers will be given.
VSN?
http://www.virtuallystrange.net/ perhaps?
Install this:
http://www.getautomatix.com/
You don't need automatix anymore. Ubuntu 7.04 will prompt to install missing codecs/flash/java/whatever when and if you come across something that needs them.
Plus, using automatix is considered unsafe. It can leave your system in a seriously messed up state. Causing upgrades/patching to fail.
If you insist on wanting to do this, I suggest you use EasyUbuntu instead. It doesn't mung your sources.list and backs up everything it touches.

Welcome to our side...you will never go back ;)
Sorry meant VPS(Virtual Private Servers) it is CentOS that is installed on it...
Arr got to go back sorry :)
But on serious note Linux has been one area dabbled in but not enough to be confident in it but by getting VPS I am forced into learning it.
Got spare box which is running cacti at work not had proper play with it yet.

Can I ask what you are using the VPS for? Or is it just a can do project?
Sorry for late reply...
Several reasons mainly as host number of sites russdev.com, edugeekconference.net, rdyascv.co.uk
Plus another site that taking form.
Plus a test site that use to test stuff out on.
Problem had is space as was on top tier with plugsocket and was running out.
So as I needed to get into linux lot more so perfect time.
At moment starting to transfer stuff over russdev.com will stay will plugsocket for at least another month as lot got to transfer over. But rest is slowly being transferred over.
Also gives me more flexibility..
Russ
You do not need to use VPS to do this. Apache's virtual hosting functionality is sufficient.Quote:
