Ltsp rdesktop option
We have recently moved from thinstation to ltsp.
When a thinstation client was left on for a while with no activity it used to disconnect and bring up a box with the option to reconnect.
Ltsp does not do the above, every 5 mins it reinitiates a connection to the terminal server. This was ok when we had 4 or 5 ltsp clients but now we have 25 the terminal server gets a bit cross when they all keep pestering it to reinitiate their connection.
So I would like to run a shell script on client start up which has a button which says connect, when this button is pressed it runs the rdesktop option and connects to the ts.
I have been trying this for a couple of days but shell scripting isnt my strong point. So Anyone have any sample scripts or any instructions please.
I have done this on solaris with tcl and sunray clients but never done sh script.
Have you successfully managed to get ltsp to boot automatically into a rdp session?
I've not done much with shell scripts either, I tend to use Python for everything - does the LTSP client include Python with a GUI library? Is there a GUI library for shell scripts? You could have a simple text-only script, of course - clear the screen, print "Press Enter to Connect..." and just wait for input before starting up RDesktop.
