I have purchased some dynamic cloud hosting and imaged it to Ubuntu 8.04 LTS- the latest Ubuntu OS available from the host.
I've been trying to upgrade it to 9.10 via SSH but had several unsuccessful attempts where I've had to start again.
I've been trying to update within the version and then do-release-upgrade from the most up to date subversion, after do-release-upgrade reboot I lost the ability to connect to the server via SSH.
Similarly just doing do-release-upgrade without the apt-get upgrade broke the server between 9.04 and 9.10.
Can anyone give me any advice on upgrading within SSH?
Sadly waiting for 10.04 LTS on 29th April isn't really an option at the moment.
