with more students being asked to use teh guest network on their phones in lessons, we need to insure internet connectivity on guest is more robost. the guest is simply dns/dhcp and a transparent proxy connecting 2 vlans. one is the wireless guest network and the other the route to the internet
Currently all the guest services are done by 1 debian machine.
I was looking into clustering another but that seems awfully complicated.
It occurred to me it might work to have 2 independent proxies operating on the same subnet as long as the dhcps were giving out a different subset of addresses.
I suppose would have to run dns in primary/secondary format and maybe dhcp but the rest ought to be able to work independently. do you think?
If you setup a split DHCP scope yes you could have 2 servers handing out 2 different default gateways - one to each server.
