A little linux help please for a newbie...

    Hi,

    Further to this post:
Run a simple webserver with ftp access...

I've hit upon a few problems I would like to resolve:

    1. When I try to start the firewall it fails, the shorewall-init.log states : "Compiling /etc/shorewall/zones....." ERROR: No IP zones defined

    2. I created an initial user "sadmin" with an associated password....and I wish to have another user - how do I create a new user that can edit the website via the sftp software?

    Thanks.

    Think I've cracked item 2.

    sudo useradd -d /home/testuser -m testuser
    sudo passwd testuser

Silly question, but did you setup an IP zone?

    Check /etc/shorewall/zones

man shorewall-zones (for helppage on it)

    Hi,

    I followed this comnmand:
    sudo cp /usr/share/doc/shorewall-common/examples/one-interface/* /etc/shorewall/

which was slightly wrong but I correct it as the install location was different - however I checked the following files and all seemed to have info. in them...
    zones
    policy
    rules

In the ZONES file it says:

    Zone Type
    fw firewall
    net ipv4
