    Lightweight Email server

Hey, ive just setup a ubuntu webserver to run our intranet. Im after a nice lightweight email app for it just for the purpose of sending emails generated by joomla.

Nothing flashy, just want it to send emails

    Any recommendations?

    Re: Lightweight Email server

You need to install the Simple SMTP Server.

    Code:
    apt-get install ssmtp
    Then edit /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf as required.

Cheers but that just forwards the mails to an upstream mail server. How would i use it?

    Re: Lightweight Email server

Well I assume you just want Joomla to be able to send emails out? If so, simply installing ssmtp and configuring it as I've described above should be enough. PHP will start using it without you needing to do anything.

It works fine here. I use it for Nagios/Moodle/MRBS/Apt_Cron/etc
