Fog - Storage nodes?

I am finally using fog in anger and have noticed that it is much slower to register hosts etc when an image is being sent out to one or more machines.
Not too much of a problem BUT if I was to install a storage node would this help with speed?
Has anyone else done this and noticed an improvement.

I am using 0.26 after using 0.27 which seemed to be even slower but looking back I think it was just that when it working slowly it gave me no feedback.

From what I understood when reading the documentation, adding more storage nodes means that the load is distributed between nodes.

You can also specify a specific node so that, for example, you could build a tiny server and carry it to the room you are imaging so that it is nearer the endpoints.

Shouldn't be too bad if multicasting.

We're testing it here and managed 60 PCs in 15 mins or so and that's including re-imaging them, letting sysprep do its thing and getting them added to the domain. Admittedly they were all the same type of machine so the image was just one being mulicast.

So far I love it.

Now if only those pesky SIS 900 POS NICs would PXE boot

Now then back to storage. I have installed fog storage over the top of an install of my old 0.27 server. All seemed fine but it didn't give me a username and password as it said it would in the documentation. Does anyone know where this might be located?

when I did 0.26 -> 0.27 it kept all the configuration settings the same

Sorry, I didn't explain properly.

My fog server is stillfine but i don't kow what the username and password is to connect my storage server to the main fog server. It did not give me them

Does anyone know what the default ones would be?

I have found what I think is the encrypted password in /var/www/fog/commons/config.php but I wouldn' know how to decipher this?

In the storage configuration UI on the main FOG server, put that in as the management password.

Hmm, mixed results.
The password solution from Geoff did work but it just moved me to my next error!

The images are not moving across to the storage server.
The /images folder has a 4kb file with the name of my first image.
When I take a look in /opt/fog/log/fogreplicator.log I see the following message being repeated every 10 minutes...

"Failed to connect to database server, will try again next iteration."

My sqluser and password match up in the Fog Storage nodes settings on the web console and in the /opt/fog/.fogsettings file!

Anyone any idaes at all?

make sure the MySQL settings are correct in '/opt/fog/service/etc/config.php'

hmm, does that seem right!
