Everthing has gone! No Partitions, nothing, completely blank HDD (/dev/sda)
Grub errors galore - mainly error 22
Grabbed the Fedora 10 Rescue DVD and booted up, it couldn't find any linux installs!
Ran gpart and parted and managed to recover my /boot Partition but nothing else (gpart not showing any sign of any partitions on the HDD
Just glad it was my backup webserver though, so just lost all the backups...
Does anyone know of any other ways to try and recover these partitions before I re-install Fedora 10 and rebuild the mirror website?

But seriously, Partition-Rescue HOWTO is my usual handbook in emergencies like these.

1st July 2009, 09:15 AM #4 Tried Ubuntu but had a hell of a time getting apache working.
Looks like its lost the LVM partitions - no sign of them anywhere at all
Oh well if cant find anything by end of the day will slap the install disk in again

1st July 2009, 09:18 AM #5 I know that this is no help now but for the future I would steer clear of Fedora upgrades, clean installs everytime.
In fact I do that for every linux distro I use, I have had Ubuntu and Suse upgrades bork before as well.

1st July 2009, 12:59 PM #6 What type of upgrade did you do?
My Netbook partially died when i tried the pre upgrade utility (not usable but could still recover stuff). Ive had some success with the DVD in the past but by far the best way i found was for my old laptop go into the yum conf and change all the 10s to 11s and run yum update, 3 hours later i had no problems fedora 11.
Ubuntu's no better i used it on a desktop machine and it died so horribly when it tried to update

1st July 2009, 01:36 PM #7 yeah I used the preupgrade as well - not had any luck recovering the LVM partitions
Looks like I'll just have to start from scratch again

1st July 2009, 02:58 PM #8 ive never had much luck upgrading any distro (other than arch but that doesnt count).
dreading updating any of my fedora servers, although none of them have anything on that cant just be copied back on from a backup so its not too bad.
I would try using the DVD to update, you could go so far as too take a FOG image of your server just to be safe

1st July 2009, 04:22 PM #9 Well started a fresh install as I left tonight
Then all I need to do is remember how I configured the mirror with rsync, etc...
