    Best OS

Ok, after a long debate much earlier in the forum i thought i would share my final thought, after trying to find the perfect linux distro, i have finally come to a desision.

Linux mint for me is outright the best, in my opinion of course.

It has the nice simplicity of a windows desktop with the "trying to be a windows replacement distro"

So it still has the beautiful polished feel of a wonderful GNOME distro.

I think its fab! so anyone wondering what distro to choose, leave the "buntu's" and get on mint!

    Tom

I use Mint too (albeit the Xfce community edition) - very good distro.

But I don't think there is one "best" OS out of them all - it's all down to personal choice and what works best for you depending on what your personal requirements are

Now personally i didnt like PCLOS, i tried it, and yes its hardware support was nice, but software wise i just cant stand the way KDE works.

It just felt like it was incomplete or rusty in some way, but yes each to thier own!

Personally I just use my EEE PC and a pocketful of bootable SD cards. Means I can choose whichever distro I feel like at the time.

I think Debian is the best. All distros are based on either Debian or Slackware. All the best distros are based on Debian.

I use Ubuntu for desktop but I always use Debian for servers.

ZX81 BASIC. It has A window. Nice and simple, and you can do everything through it!

This is such a troll's thread. We're never going to agree on this subject, because the entire point of the free software movement is choice and the best tool for the job. Can't you give up trying to incite arguments and get on with contributing something back to ${distro}?

(And why does this continuation of another conversation warrant a new thread?)

My apologies for starting a new thread, i have just stumbled across the "what distro should i choose?" in a few thread so thought i would start one for advice for new linux users, but everybody has chipped in thier thoughts and im sure the comments will be useful to someone.

    Thanks to all.
