Zimbra - IM -What's wrong?

I'm not sure if our staff would ever need the IM function on zimbra but I'd still like to see it working.
At the moment all my zimbra works apart from the IM function.
I have given access to it for my test users and they can see it on the tabs across the top.
They can add a user but then nothing. Nobody gets an email informing them they have been added and nobody appears in the buddy list.

Do you have to change any extra settings? Am I just being dense again?

I think you might have to run these commands as the Zimbra user:

zmprov -l -v mcf zimbraXMPPEnabled TRUE
zmprov -v mc <cos_name> zimbraFeatureIMEnabled TRUE
zmprov -v mc <cos_name> zimbraFeatureInstantNotify TRUE

But replace <cos_name> with the name of the COS that your test user is in.

I think it's just because it's a beta-quality feature. As it is, it works well... but it's not currently possible to automate or script friend list which is a bit of a drawback if you want to use it with large groups of users. But for several people - it's great

Ah, I suppose that makes sense. Oh well it should be good for some staff.
