20th February 2009, 11:50 AM #6 i tried that
all i got was
[root@Fedora10-test hgs]# su -c 'rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...release-stable... http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfr...nfree-release-... yum -y install kmod-nvidia'
-y: unknown option
[root@Fedora10-test hgs]# su -c 'yum -y install binutils'
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
Package binutils-2.18.50.0.9-8.fc10.i386 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
then the driver still couldn't build the kernel

-
20th February 2009, 11:54 AM #7 Lets break it down:
Run these one at a time and post back the outputs.
rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...ble.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfr...ble.noarch.rpm
yum install kmod-nvidia
-
-
20th February 2009, 11:59 AM #8 once the driver opens in runlevel 3 it cannot download the kernel (temporary dns error) then when it attempts to build the kernel is says
error cannol build the nvidia kernel
funny thing is i did the exact same method on a centos machine yesterday and it was fine

Can you as I asked confirm what happened with those commands.
Seeing as I earnt myself a block of negative rep for my post above asking you to answer my previous question I didn't reply again yesterday.
Nonetheless, I'm a nice person and want to get this going for you.
Forgetting yum for a second, does the following work:
wget "http://fuller.zen.co.uk/test/10MB_zero.bin"
If this fails, we have an issue with your proxy settings within Fedora which we can resolve which may in turn fix the problems with nvidia.

21st February 2009, 01:50 PM #15 yes it worked fine
and negative rep??? I didn't do that
