    transparent proxy and wpad

I don't want to mess with a live proxy.

So to run transparency and wpad on the same proxy I surmise that apache holding the wpad file could not be on port 80 because iptables is redirecting port 80 for transparency. so set apache to a different port and point dhcp rule for wpad to this address and it would work fine?

Sound plausible as long as dhcp accepts the port number

I don't think it would work because "autoconfig" is meant to go to http://wpad/wpad.dat

    The autoconfig URL would work

So long as you define the port in the URL you put into dhcp option 252, it should work fine.
