    Ubuntu icedtea7 problem

    Hi

I'm trying to get Java onto a laptop running Ubuntu 12.10. I've installed openjdk7 and icedtea 7 plugin, the plugin enabled in Firefox. When going onto a website with a java app I get a message saying the Iced tea plugin is out of date. It will let me run once but I cant update the plugin. Anyone seen this before and got a solution?

If all you want is Java, and not a specific version have you tried the "proper" Java install from Oracle?
