Website for pupils doing OCR Nationals in ICT

I started putting a site together to help pupils at my school with one of the modules, but went a bit mad and now there are four modules on there, not quite finished yet, but loads of stuff there.

If your school is doing the OCR Nationals, feel free to give them the address.

I will be doing more modules soon, but currently working on the four existing ones, daily updates ongoing.

I would welcome comments / criticisms / ideas / etc......

A lot of good material on there Paul,

Have you considered making the units available as Moodle courses?

Is that so that people could import them into existing Moodle systems ?

I have had a brief look at Moodle, but not to any great extent.

I would be happy to have a go though.

If you could wrap it up as a SCORM module, that'd be great.

I haven't had any experience of Scorm yet, heard about it, particularly at BETT.

What do I need to do it ?

    Read here:

    http://www.adlnet.gov/index.cfm

Basically, and at a conceptual level, SCORM compliance means you could package your online materials as modules available across multiple platforms that are also SCORM compliant. It's an easy way to reach interoperability.

I'm not sure it's necessary to jump through those hoops for your stuff, but if that's what you want to do- provide your materials for as wide an audience as is possible- then shoot for it.

This might help too- it'll let you know where your site is in terms of compliancy so far and let you see where you need to be to make it happen:

    http://www.scormsoft.com/scorm/cam/overview

Hope that helps in any case!

Spotted a typo on the index page:-

'Welcome, I have put this site together to help you with your ICT courework.'

Shouldn't that be coursework! Not having a go as I'm dyslexic myself! #-o

Thanks for that, it's sometimes difficult to spot your own errors, even in obvious places.

I'm going to check the lot as a precaution, if you spot any more, please post.

Re: Website for pupils doing OCR Nationals in ICT

Looks very good. I have pointed our ICT teachers in the direction. Agree with the SCORM compliance thing, might be worth looking at if thats the way you want to go. Just a couple of suggestions though, when you click on a menu option i.e. module 1, the menu changes, but the page stays the same. It might be worth changing the page to the introduction section within the Module 1 context. Also i notice a lot of your content has spaces in the names which then appear as "%20" e.g.
    Code:
    www.ictpro.org/module%201/task%201.htm
You may want to consider adjusting this, maybe use an underscore instead. It's not causing you any major problems, but some webservers dont handle spaces particularly well, and if you distribute scorm compliant packages, it makes sense to get rid of things like that.

Yes, thanks for pointing that out.

In fact someone else had pointed it out and I have put another website together conforming to the "no spaces" rule.

I suppose that I will have to update this one too !
