Not surprised - Labour always manage to screw something up... - though a 16.8Meg connection would be nice!

It just goes to show that you should never try and expand abbreviations - leave them vague and then no-one knows you don't know what it means.

To be fair, I've had people who really should know the difference between bits and bytes get them confused so there's little chance for non-techy people.

Wonder if the few gaps will include poor Ric who's connection isn't very good at his rural location

Ric is not in a rural location, he works in a posh suburb of Blackpool, and now has a very nice internet connection. It wasn't his fault BT put the fibre on the wrong side of a gas main and when it came time to come into the school couldn't!

Oh, you mean his home! Yeah, it's sticksville!

When i lived with my folks we could get upto 17 - but normal speeds where anything between 12-14.5mb - i have now moved around the corner but am capped at only 8mb!

Edit: does make you think do they actually have a clue when they say half of the things they do - if you didn't see another C**k up by a labour minister see this post by mattx What does IP Stand For ?

Yeh I meant his home as I feel for him as I know he's had some bad times with that. I'm sure his CLEO is a lovely 100mb fibre (goes and sniffles in a corner at my 3x 5mb bonded wet string from my lot )

All in-line with digital economy bill, all the better to spy on you with.

Surely for that they'd prefer to minimize connection speeds, that way they've got less data to trawl through when they want to accuse you of something?

You wouldn't be downloading anything on a slow connection, legal or not...

    It's a trap!!!1

Do you think they'd manually trawl through logs in anycase?

Either manual or automatic, it still takes longer with a lot more data.

They don't actually need to prove you were doing anything under the digital economy bill - just have 'cause to believe'

As for connection, our exchange down here in hastings is so balls I can only get 2mb, and thats at a horrificly unreliably state.

Makes working from home a lot of fun....
