    Google Domains

Invite-only at the moment, but it looks like Google is getting into the domain name business. GoDaddy should be very worried!

From personal experience I have found that GoDaddy's service might not be that reliable.

I found our website domain name for sale via GoDaddy for 2.99 [I have proof that I do not want to post here but can send to admins if required]

I checked with our webmaster and our domain registration had not expired.

    Thoughts?

Edit: I do not intend this to turn into a 'Have A Go at GoDaddy' [or any other provider] thread.

That's interesting. Was it a .com or .net address?

Could it be something to do with GoDaddy's Auction and/or Backorder services (although neither of these are 2.99)?

It was .CO.UK. GoDady's offer page with some of the information edited out:

Did you try to buy it to see what happened?

No. I knew that the domain was ours. I had not considered 'experiments' of this sort.

Was it definitely the same domain? I tried a few of my own domains and can't get it to do what you mentioned.

Yes it is our domain. As stated previously the .co.uk domain offered is ours. I read it as the other 75 domains offered were the ones that were similar.

    Just an odd one-off glitch?

Perhaps. Maybe it might be worth contacting them about it to see what they say?

When Google Domains is out of beta I think I might transfer some of my domains over since they don't charge anything to make your WHOIS details private.

Just applied for an invite to the beta... Got a couple of domains I don't use for anything that I can test it out with... I imagine things will be much smoother using Google DNS, and free WHOIS privacy is an added bonus
