Here's an idea.... An EduGeek magazine. Could maybe be a bi-monthly or even quarterly feature.
Question 1) Would people be willing to surrender some of their time to write articles and what not (that specifically apply to IT in Education).
Question 2) Would EduGeek members subscribe to this magazine?
Question 3) Is this blue sky thinking or do you think I'm drunk?

26th January 2009, 10:30 AM #3 This magazine appeared in October directed at Independent School's IT and was quite good. Independent Schools ICT magazine
However, I haven't seen another issue, so wonder if it has fallen through.
Might be worth a collaboration to make a school It version rather than specifically Indepndents if it is still going. (The creator's contact details are in the thread)

Hmm interesting, not sure...perhaps an online magazine as part of this site might work better. I dunno if people would pay for the content, not a great deal of people donate to the site at the moment.

Well, what I was thinking is charge nothing for an online version, but charge people to cover the costs of printing for a hard copy.
We could even subsidise these costs by selling advertising?

When people are volunteering time I wouldn't expect things to go without a hitch but any advice would be great.

26th January 2009, 11:01 AM #11 Admins fault last time one of our biggest failings as admins is we try to 'own' too much and then we get overran with work.
So I have said to rest that one of us will admin contact for person working on it and first time rest of us see it is when you lot see it.

26th January 2009, 11:06 AM #13 I'd quite like to help out in some way, would be nice to give something back after all the ideas and help this site has given me over the past couple of years.

26th January 2009, 11:07 AM #14 Sounds a good idea, if contributors can commit enough articles on a regular basis to make it worth producing. Perhaps a mix of columns and articles would help with that?

That's why a quarterly publication might be best. Gives three months to pull enough content together to make it worthwhile.
I've taken names of people interested and will start to organise this, so expect to hear from me in some way, shape or form.
It would be good to get somebody on board who has an eye for design.
