We have recently bought a new server to replace the 5 year old DC we are running at the moment, It came pre-installed with windows server 2003 R2. Our current DC is running windows server 2003 with no service packs. When I go to run dcpromo and get an error saying that I must run adprep on the current DC to allow the AD to be copied accross. I have run this but it doesn't seem to help matters.
Can anyone shed some light on this before I throw the new server away.....

Re: Adding new server to domain as DC
You have to run the Server 2003 R2 ADPrep on the old server. You can find this on the R2 disk (2K3 Disc 2 in my set)
