How to create a DHCP server?
Hi,
Our network spans over several sites with the servers located at one of the sites. Each site has its own ip address and DHCP is not currently set up.
Today we tried installing sme server and got dhcp up and running at one of our sites but it wouldnt give out the correct dns server address and there is not a option ti chabge this.
Is there anotherpiece of software or another way of doing this apart from buying routers?
Many thanks,
Dan

this an option with a superscope DHCP setup to combine different ranges across sites etc. if you are using MS server.
Using superscopes: Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)

And can I ask wether the sites are domain based or are seperate from each other?

Will have a look at super scopes and will see if its going would work thanks.
Yes currently we have static IP's but we also have guests bringing in their laptops who wish to access the internet. We will probably remove the static ip's as well if the dhcp works ok as there isnt any benifits in having them really on our small system.
All computers are joined to the single domain. Is this what you were asking?
