In all the primary schools i support they all have vanilla 2000 and 2003 networks. I have seen a job position not far from me which is more money but it is looking after a CC3 network which i have no experience with. Can someone explain to me what this is please?

CC3 is basicaly an overlay for a vanilla AD network. It is basically an expensive way to buy in your GPOs and manglement tools to make life easier fo rthe person/people running the network.
Many people swear by products such as CC3 and others hate it - this is not the place to discuss that. If you can install, configure and manage a vanilla network you should be able to cope with a CC3 network - it may be worth pointing this out on your application though so that you put your point across to those shortlisting for the job.
I agree with Ric
If you can manage a vanilla network you can manage a CC3 network. It may be worth your while to spend some time on the documentation though as a well run CC3 network virtually maintains itsself - as long as you do things the RM way.
Diverging from that requires both a knowledge of how to run a Vanilla system AND the impact of the change you are wanting to make on how the CC3 network works.
It is possible for example to have both CC3 clients and non CC3 clients co-existing, but you need to understand the security and management constraints that will bring.

No networks maintain themselves.
Since you're essentially dealing with an off-the-shelf standard config that doesn't need too much attention, one skill that gets more emphasis in CC3 world is app packinging i.e. making and/or transforming MSIs.

We don't do things the RM way, also may i add we also build packages using various tools (Wise, Orca etc etc) and create our own security settings and deploy scripts via GPO not via the RM MMC.
What i would say is that if you can do all this using CC3 you should be able to manage a vanilla 2k, 2k3R2.
In all i think that we all do a fantastic job for the pittance of pay education allows us even when we are more qualified than the teachers no matter what platform we use.
In essence we are undervalued and overworked but to answer the original question i think you should be fine Kyle just go for it and like the man say's read up on the RM website, you will need to register i think (been a long time since i was on it) and good luck for the future.![]()
