Just fitted a Procurve 1810G-24 switch and set the IP. I see when pinging the switch from a machine that's plugged directly into it I'm getting a reply that anything from 2ms to 46ms. All my other switches respond with a 1ms-2ms ping. What can the problem be?

3rd February 2010, 04:20 PM #2 do a full reset and then set the ip again..
is it plugged in to the main network?
and did you give it DNS and a GW.
if so set the ip and leave the dns and GW out.

3rd February 2010, 05:34 PM #3 It won't accept leaving the gateway out. Did a timed file copy from a server and the throughput seems ok same as the other switches and I can ping the other switches through this switch with a response of 1-2ms

4th February 2010, 08:50 PM #4 It's just the switch throttling traffic to the management interface of the switch, nothing to worry about. If you ping a pc from a pc on the same switch that will give a better indication and should be <1ms if the PC isn't levering its network connection.
