I need a quick way to create about 500 users for my test network at home. Does anyone know of a program or something that will allow me to this?

IIRC, there is a script on the TechNet Script Centre that does just this. It's always a good place to start anyway.

I have an excel spreadsheet that creates the users and home folders, shares them and CALCS them and sets the share permission under 2003 and 2000 server. The only thing it doesn't do is create the exchange accounts which is a simple select all the users then remove the exchange attributes then create the whole account.
Would you like an email with it, all you do is export your pupils in year groups as CSVs from NovaT and then Copy and Paste them and edit the year details.

I suppose we are all assuming that it's a windows test network? A bit more info from the original post would have clarified this and also if you want to automagically create home folders and set permissions etc...???

My script creates the Exchange accounts and moves the users to the correct OU too!Originally Posted by BKGarry

Just post it in the scripts forum.
First off let me apologise for not making my self clear. I am in the process the process of creating a test enviroment at home to allow me to test various tings and I want to have a decent number of user accounts to allow me to test various group policy settings etc. As I am going to be trashing this on a regular basis I want an easy to create a large number of users along with home folders etc as plexer stated. Hope that helps.

@richard: I found the page for you... http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scr....mspx?mfr=true - this will create 1000 accounts!
try this script / Excel Sheet
Add the users info to the spreadsheet, then edit the vbs file to point to your excel sheet, and edit the LDAP string for your domain..
Only thing I can never get to work is creating the home folders, but just delete the column and try again if it fails
Thanks guys. Sorry for being a pain but I have been up to my eyes with work and have just got my first Freelance contract as well. I really should have set this all up beforehand but oh well....
ROFL... now where can i get a few hundred chimpanzees or will spider monkeys do?Originally Posted by webman
