My HP Proliant is informing me of a predictive hard drive failure (flashing amber light). I have a spare hard drive for this, should I wait until it stays on completely and fails or should I just unplug it (hotswap) and put the new one in. If I do unplug it, do I need to do anything in the RAID. When the drives usually go, I just swap out without doing anything else.
I have a RAID 6 by the way

Well actually, try unplugging it, give it a blow off, and pop it back in. Ive seen raid cards moan about faulty HDs and this "cure" it.

Cheers
