I want to add an IP address to a script or similar so that the browser will allow access to that IP address bypasing the proxy server.
To explain further.
In IE6 I click on tools- internet options - connections - Lan settings - advanced.
Then in exceptions there are addresses already pre loaded. I want to add an address so that this address is also pre-loaded.
How do I do this? Is there a script that does this and if so where would I find the script??
Thanks
Alex

you can do this in gpo
user congiguration ===> windows settings ===> connection ===> then double click proxy settings.
you can then put all the ip addresses you want in there in the exceptions section!

Use the Group Policy Management Console. Hopefully the GPO will be called something sane like 'Internet Settings'. If not you'll have to use the modelling tool to see which GPO applies the setting.

You could also do this with a proxy.pac, if you were so inclined

Re: Internet Explorer connection script
GPOs better so that people would need to have a valid domain logon before they get access to the web.
Of course the real solution is to have IEEE 802.1-wotsit authentication on you switches.

Hi,
Thanks for the help. I have found the area to make the adjustments, and have added the IP address. How long does it take for these additions to become live, as I have logged off another machine and logged on again but no update?
thanks

client machines recieve group policy updates every 90mins. Additionally some policies might require a reboot or relogon to apply correctly.
You can force a policy update on a client by running:
Code:
gpupdate /force /boot

Or you can use the Automatic Configuration Script but to be honest, then they're loaded every time the browsed is, but to be honest I'd go with the GPO option as it's a lot easier.

IE tends to cache the config script too. So it doesn't always get the updated settings. Firefox gets round this by having a big 'reload' button you can press next to the setting in the network configuration dialog box.
