HI
I have just found out that Microsoft Sharepoint Design is now a free download and can be downloaded at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sh...487631033.aspx. I am now wanting to deploy it through group policy but its an exe.
Does anyone know how to deploy this with group policy on a windows 2003 domain.
Thanks for all your help.

Might seem like a strange question, but why do you want to deploy it through GPO? Its a development tool, and I can't imagine a school having more than maybe three or four people interested in doing Sharepoint development.
Otherwise a simple shared network drive and logon/startup script'll let you install it at logon for users, or at computer startup. Put the installer in the shared drive and make a script which'll run once and install it.

Dont quote be on this, but if you just add it to the software deployment in group policy (as if you were deploying an MSI) it should deploy that way. I am yet to try it out that way as i am the only one who needs it at the moment.
It's like Office 2007![]()

Sharepoint designer is an updated version of front page.

If you're using Sharepoint then its the equivalent to Frontpage, yes, but geared for Sharepoint development.
Microsoft® Expression® is the non-Sharepoint replacement for Frontpage.

Extract the sharepoint Installation,
Open Group Policy Management console. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Administrative Tools, and then click Group Policy Management.
In the console tree, double-click Group Policy Objects in the forest and domain that contain the GPO that you want to edit. This is located in Forest name, Domains, Domain name, Group Policy Objects.
Right-click the GPO you want to modify and click Edit. This opens Group Policy Object Editor.
In the left pane in Group Policy Object Editor, expand the Computer Configuration tree.
In the left pane, expand Software Settings and select Software Installation.
Right-click in the right pane, point to New and click Package.
In the Open dialog box, browse to the network installation point you created and select the Windows Installer (MSI) file in the main product folder of the Office product that you are installing. For example, for Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, select Enterprise.WW\EnterpriseWW.msi.
NOTE: Sharepont MSI Name: SharePointDesignerWW
Click Open.
Select Assigned to use the default options, or select Advanced to customize these options.
Close all dialog boxes.
And that should then install on the machines you have applied this too.
remember you have to do an interactive login and then restart for it to deploy
James.
HI
I am sorry I cannot find the enterpriseww or the enterpriseww.msi but I do have a sharepointww folder and a sharepointww.msi is this the same thing.
Also do I have to link the msp file that has all the settings in into the gpo.
Thanks for all your help.
