any recommendations for very good quality pcb patch panels [ie non modular] and corresponding
compatible 4-pair punchdown tool [for labour saving purposes.] ?
links to specific products if possible please.

i hear krone are good. any thoughts anyone ?
do they use a special tool for termination as distinct from other patch panel vendors.
Krone is a good product. The idc connectors are their own design and tend to be used on a lot of other manufacturers panels / telephone products
The tool is a standard Krone IDC punch down tool and costs about £7

Why non modular?
We have mainly panduit installed here but some excel stuff too.

we have a lot of Krone here, it seems to be good stuff but I still feel its a bit overpriced!
I install a lot of own brand stuff from Comtec now.

Mills Ltd. I have used many of them and been very pleased with them and the Cat6 ones as well. Mills as far as I can see are always good products and well built.

hi ben. the reasoning behind going with the non-modular design is a) cost savings. with the modular design your paying for each individual keystone jack.
b) i find the modular panels 'toolless' methods ironically quite fiddly and frustrating. the one's i've tried anyway.
i like panduit panels but would just prefer to go with the traditional punchdown method and a 4-pair tool
so that we don't have to punchdown each individual wire as with the traditional IDC tool.
do you know if panduit do a 4-pair tool for their IDC panels ?

I think so allthough panduit information is a bit hard to come by.
