    Smoothwall Network Drivers

    Hi everyone, I have just tryed installing smoothwall and got to the select network driver part and it doesnt find my network card automatically, when i have a look for the network card manually i can find it in the list and select it but says: unable to load driver module the card is a Realtek RTL8139

    8139 should be fine.... odd that it is giving gyp
    Which version of SmoothWall?
    Does the card work with a.n.other OS? Can you try an ubuntu live CD or some such? You can use that to determine more about the card, so its a useful choice.

    Hi thanks sorry the card is a 8139D and it works with my ubuntu server, the version of smoothwall im using is smoothwall express 3.0

    Im using my Smoothie with 8139's no problem.

    8139's are probably my favourite NIC's to use with Linux as they tend to work straight out of the box.

    if you put the ubuntu live cd in and run "modprobe" and "cat /proc/pci" what are the results?
