I have a problem with 1 computer, it does not apply the proxy settings from my group policy, but the rest of the computers in the room do.
It is running windows 2000, the rest of the policy is applied but it just doesn't change the proxy settings.
Any body shed any light on this.

Are you using folder redirection on the Application Data folder in the user profile?

no, i've just checked all 3 GPO's that are applied to the computer and it's not set.
It's quite strange because all the other computers in the room have the proxy settings but this one doesn't.
I'm confused......

What does the GPMC think if you do a Results query on the computer/user combo in question?

I've had this to. I get errors in the log mentioning Internet Explorer and RSoP logging. I gave up and wrote a script. To be quite candid and perfectly frank, I 'm increasingly of the opinion the Group Policy is a load of s**t. (not that I've had a bad day or anything..)

Do the machines not accepting the setting have anything set locally? I've been 'round the houses with this one too, and getting a script to take the pain away too.

We have it on slow computers from time to time. If it's just one PC and in a room of ghosted or RIS'd PCs I'd just wipe it and start again.

I've just taken a look at the gpo results and it shows the correct setting for the proxy server. It is in a room of 26 identical machine that I have a ghost image for so I might just re-image it during half term next week.
Creating scripts, err I don't know where to start.
Re-ghost,
Thanks for all the help guys.

Cool, maybe the scary scripting language will soon be used a bit more on my network.
Thanks Chris.

Once you get into it you will never look back, it saves you hours and will fill in the gaps where software/GPOs cant do what you want. Have a play with the scriptomatic stuff first and try altering bits and go from there.

Re: Proxy Settings Not Applied
Are the proxy settings set in the User or Computer area in the GPO?
Try a full group policy synchronisation (gpupdate /sync from the command prompt) and reboot.
Also, check the output of gpresult for any 'Access Denied' or similar messages. They could indicate a problem with the Active Directory machine account.

Just a quick note on this one because stupid sap that I am I'd forgotten that I'd solved this already (all together "Doh!").
The hotfix and reg changes noted here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;888254
DO solve the issue of redirection working with any IE changes and I've just reapplied it to some new machines to rediscover that little nugget.
We'll not mention the 3 hours of head against wall application I've been through to remember tho... *sob*
