Well, we have the very stable Xerox Phaser 8400.
It does the job just fine, however recently it will randomly drop off the network.
If I put the power in, all through the 'warming up' phase I can ping it, browse the web interface and do whatever I like.
Once it is warmed up and ready I can still browse web interface fine, but as soon as ANY print job is sent to it (even 'wgggaaarrrbbblll' in notepad), it starts dropping ping replies, maybe 2 or 3 then come back on. If I send something bigger it will probably print THAT job but will then no longer reply to pings and the web interface won't work anymore. If I shutdown the printer at this point using the front panel just as its shutting down before it cuts its own power off, I get a couple of ping replies!
Everytime I try to get into the web interface I don't have enough time because (any network user) tries to print something and therefore it goes offline again.
I checked for IP conflicts, wiring (asin network) as well as resetting the config from scratch.
if anyone has any ideas it would be great to hear them!
Oh and before I forget, it will randomly print this out, asif it timed out while recieving a print job
ERROR: timeout
OFFENDING COMMAND: timeout
