HP 1320 printer issue

There is a document showing in the printer dialogue box which hasn't printed and won't delete. This is preventing anything from being printed to that device.
Anyone have a solution please?

Is it a local printer or a network printer?

If local: Stop and start the spool service at the station and try deleting the job again.

If network: Select the print job in the network queue, delete it and then stop and start the spool service at the server.

There is also an 'orange' button [I am never sure what colour that button is] on the printer with an 'X' stamped into the face. Pressing this should [eventually] clear any print jobs in the printer memory.

Just press it once that should tell the printer that you want to delete the current job. However it might depend upon how much is in the printer memory. You may see nothing in the network queue but pages continue to spill out of the printer even after pressing the button.

I usually ensure that no users send any new jobs to the printer and remove the paper tray feeding sheets into the printer one-by-one until I am sure that the last of the job has cleared. After that I usually send a test page to the printer. This way I know that the printer is responding as desired after all of the 'shenanigans' [we have those often here. ]

I tried the orange button - didn't do anything just sat there humming:-( So I deleted the printer from the server and added it again. When I looked at the queue there was nothing there.

However, thanks for the info, I now know what the button is for, which is good:-)

Too right there. Now it's my server and a new printer that are not showing up in my network monitor. Hey ho, no peace for the techie
