    Spiceworks 3 helpdesk

I am trying to setup the helpdesk in spiceworks 3 and am having problems with the e mail setup. I cannot connect to the owa part of exchange when I enter the address in the box and supply my domain account. I am putting in
    Code:
    http://exchangeserver.norden2000.local/owa
into the box, and have tried every possible way of putting my account details in the authentication box but it says error with outgoing mail settings.

Is there a way to try owa in a web browser? if it is just typing in
    Code:
    http://exchangeserver/owa
then I get an error, how do I check that owa is setup correctly?

The error I get when typing
    Code:
    http://exchangeserver/owa
    is Page not found.

Is it asking for SMTP information? If so then this information will be something like mail.yourdomain.co.uk depending on your setup.

I have setup the outgoing mail server using smtp, so it now looks like
    Code:
    term.norden2000.local
I'm still having problems with the incoming setup, I was hoping to use our exchange server but am having problems.

Why are you giving it your OWA address? OWA is a web interface for your exchange server.

Shouldn't you just be entering the mail server address?

To use the incoming stuff, you'd need access to POP3 or IMAP wouldn't you? OWA won't be any use I wouldn't think?

Spiceworks changed and allows Exchange details to be entered for email and monitoring. I couldn't get it working either as it asks for your OWA address but says it can't find it. Gave up in the end.

Really? Bizarre, I can't see why it wants the OWA details rather than just the server name?!

@TechMonkey did you manage to get any sort of email setup for keeping the staff up to date with what was going on with regard to their ticket?

I never realised that. Spiceworks support can be quite good so I would recommend sending them an email and I'm sure they'll be able to help you get this problem resolved. As a solution could you not use SMTP/POP information instead of the OWA information you're trying to use?

    A note from Spiceworks...

Disclosure: I work for Spiceworks (Hope I'm not intruding... found this thread from someone's Twitter)

Just a quick note to say that in the future, you might direct questions like this to the Spiceworks community first. Our support staff (and developers for that matter) are constantly scanning the forums there to help our users with whatever issues they're having.

To answer some of your questions here, we actually do use the Outlook Web Interface for communication with the Exchange server. It's the easiest way to get access to mail data in exchange without writing a native client. It's actually based on WebDAV and so pretty easy to integrate with.

Don't know if this is related, but one of the issues that we've been noticing since the 3.0 release is that some Exchange servers look for the username to be in the format "DOMAIN/username" while others expect "username@domain.com". Many times, just the username (w/o domain will also work).

    Hope this helps,

    Shad

I had to change /owa to /exchange and the username to the user@domain format. Hope that helps.

    Single Sign-On

Is Single-Sign-On available in Spiceworks, ie...so the user doesnt have to authenticate twice to use the helpdesk system.

    Network: 1st sign-on
    Heldesk: 2nd

I have the AD integration switch set, which works fine by the way. But our staff are sooooooo lazy. Getting them to sign in twice could put them off using it.

Haven't seen any SSO yet, perhaps this is a plugin potential for it? I know that ours remembers there details so they logon once and it remembers them unless they specifically log out or have there profile reset.
