RM Ones
We have 60 RM Ones we have stripped off the RM image and re-installed XP and the drivers from there website. Once installed all the software and RIS'ed
the machines.
The problem starts...........
As soon as a user inserts a USB pen the machine just restarts.
Any help would be appreciated

We have seen this with the Symantec ghost client - there's a reference to it here but I can't find the info on the Symantec web site.

I have SP3 on a load of systems, it's only managed to "break" two types, a set of fujitsu siemens amilo Pro laptops and the music dept's HP DC5150 SFFs, so these have been rolled back to SP2 for now

I have un-installed SP3 and it works great after it has automatically installed all the drivers.
But i have the problem whereby when it restarts or logs off it is says install updates now while shutting down and the update is the Service Pack 3. If i create a new image and dont install XP SP3 i will not be able to download any other updates, as it comes up asked to restart then the remaining updates appear.
Any advice would be great

I know this will not solve the problem but it might be a get round till you can find a solution. Disable the usb in the bios or try disabling the usb through group policy.
Disable USB Disks with GPO
Just an idea I know its only a get round.

There's a simple answer to that, MS just hate me....
I'm planning to investigate why things are fecking up over the half term, my current thought is iffy drivers on the images, so a clean SP2 install followed by fresh drivers might sort it.

11th June 2008, 12:11 PM #11 I had loads of issues with USB on the RM Ones I've had the pleasure of working with. As soon as I got rid of the RM image they were fine though.... I may hangfire on installing SP3 on them though :P
