2 DHCP servers causing grief

I have a classroom setup where I did, using the same physical network, create 2 domains using different IP-ranges and now I'd like to have a separate DHCP box in each of these domains.

The problem is that since DHCP being what it is, I run into such a situation that 1 DHCP server takes control and issues adresses for domain A, me being unable to connect a pc to domain B using the DHCP of domain B .

Is there any way without reconfiguring the network itself that I can use to achieve my goal, ie each domain serverd by it's own DHCP ?

Why do you need two DHCP servers, would one not surfice?

If not, what differences in config are you looking at doing (gateways, DNS, etc)?

I think he has two completely different sets of IP addresses. But why do you have two networks? If they are admin and curriculum should you have them separate anyway?

If you're using some horrid old hubs or unmanaged switches that don't support vlanning then just re-patch the two networks into different switches. It could also prove quicker if you're not familiar with the process.

VLANs and physical separation are the two ways that I can think of to reduce your broadcast domain to cope with your problem. Short of setting up two scopes on the dhcp server and using mac reservations but this kind of defeats the point i suspect (that and I don't know if that'll work??)

You can also use DHCP super scopes to fix this.
