Forwarding apache hosted site though IIS

Not sure if i've put this in the right place, if it's possible or even if the title makes sense but here goes:

I have a Server 2003 server hosting school website (php, MySql, Joomla - yes webman et al. i know i could've used linux but the previous one was ASP.Net and we still use a bit of that ), it is accessible through council firewall. I have an internal server running ubuntu & apache and hosting a nagios installation.

What i would like to do is see my nagios stuff outside of school. Is there anyway that i can set IIS so that if somebody goes to http://www.schoolsite/nagios/ it looks at http://internalserver/nagios and displays the content to them. (all securityified obviously)

Hmm, I ended up doing this with http://www.isapirewrite.com/ as a purchased component. This allowed me to redirect two internal (Linux) servers via our iis6 intranet.

Not seen a free way of doing this (yet).

Bugger. Thanks for the link, but not sure i can be justifying any cost for my convenience. Especially when i can use logmein.com (etc) to connect to a server and view nagios that way. Should soon be getting VPN access sorted soon so i suppose that will solve the problems for me, but it would be nice to have general access via the web

Would it not be possible to do it the other way round? Eg. Apache on the nagios machine facing externally, and reverse proxy via mod_proxy to handle connections to the IIS box?

My website is hosted like this. it's ASP based so runs better in IIS, but I wanted to use reverse proxy to use our webserver as a portal to other services in the school. You can't reverse proxy easily in IIS, so I installed apache as the front end server, reverse proxying to IIS on the same box(different port) for our main website. Works a treat.

If you can change your front end server to Apache, then it'll be much easier for you.

I've never done reverse proxying using IIS but I use it on Apache in conjunction with name based vhosts.

I've got a bit of documentation on how I setup Apache on my freebsd server at home and it has stuff for reverse proxying. I don't know if this is going to be a comprehensive aid to you but you're most welcome to look.
