    sorry to ask such a dim question, but which version of ghost do i need to be able to ghost 150ish machines one or 2 at a time using the multicast server.

    No.

    You need a ghost license for every machine that has not been decomissioned by the hard disk being wiped with a special gdisk removal command (this blanks the drive) or destroyed.

    Image 150 machines you need 150 licenses. The count is done on the fact that the image has been put on the machine with ghost, not how many clients are installed or how many you currently use it with.

    we use symantec ghost version 7.5 still going strong despite sata technology!

    Same here, only problem seems to be it won't unicast to more then one machine (and I don't think that's a ghost problem).

    That would be because surely to push to more than one machine that would be a multicast?

    Nah you can actually do a unicast to multiple machines. Obviously there is little point in it as it reduces the speed of the imaging, but we have used it in the past when we had problems with multicasting

    Yeh we've used it to overcome problems before usually involving older machines or switches.
