Hi
I have been looking at the job description of a job i am interested in and this is included
The
ICT facilities are first class with over £400,000 spent on facilities such as over 350 computers for 550 students, interactive whiteboards in all classrooms and a totally wireless network.
Totally Wireless Network, don't like the sound of that!

Re: Don't Like the sound of this!
They're surely just referring to their whole network accessible wirelessly?
From that I presume they don't have differnt VLAN's and so forth.

Never hurts to try and email the existing IT people directly if you're unsure of the wording

Re: Don't Like the sound of this!
We have interactive whiteboards in all rooms, they're not too much of a headach!
We also have our Data VLAN accessable wirelessly, again no real bother. We run a Cisco WLAN Controller with RADIUS and TACACS.

Either that or they mean that the entire site is covered by their WiFi signal. The job description/advert was more than likely written by Head / Bursar / admin person who might not fully understand the technology or the correct terminology
Or of course, they have gone completely wireless (some consultant probably told them it was a good thing to do).

Generally dont have problems with interactive white boards here and most of our classrooms have em. I must admit im not keen on ActiveWhiteboards as they are annoying but fortunately we dont have many and the rest are Smartboards.
Hope they do mean wireless access is available and not 350 laptops with wireless network... that would really sux.

WHat probs. are you having with the Active boards? We've got around 30+ here and apart from teachers writing on them with permanent and dry wipe markers we don't have any problems with them.

apart from changing bulbs and filters and clearing timers all the time? At one point I even had to embark up a ~40ft scaffold! 8O
I must be the most expensive bulb changer in the country

Sorry, how is that the fault of the Activboard? The fact that you chose/had to put it all the way up there is hardly a product design flaw (not least because whatever brand you bought would have to be 40ft up).
