Viewing Network

Might be because it's the end of the day but I'm having a problem getting an new Lenovo R60 notebook to access my network drives. the notebook accesses the Internet fine through the cache but whereas all other workgroup PC I have added have been able to see the network drives this one doesn't. Any ideas what I'm not doing please?

If you're using the wireless.. you'll probably need to get the access connections thing to load the wireless profile whilst logging on. Then it will find the domain and run login scripts etc..

Thanks for that. No it's not a wireless problem. It's ethernet connected and all the other notebooks etc that I have connected to our system have never had a problem accessing the networked files. I haven't joined them to the network but they have been able to access shared drives etc. This one pulles up Espresso from our cache but when I try to map network drives all it finds is an empty Workgroup whereas in the past other machines have been able to access through the domain?

Have you checked the obvious such as enabling file sharing and tweaking the firewall?

If it isn't in the domain, check to see if it has got the right DNS.
I would guess this was set via DHCP, but...

Check you can ping the servers.

I had this problem sometime ago at home, as one machine had a different DNS set, I had forgotten to set things via DHCP, so everything went wrong.
